Helping Our Students Keep Calm & Learn Something (4 hours)

The focus of this training will be on maintaining a safe classroom environment where even traumatized students can trust others, learn and grow. We will cover concepts related to learning and the brain, the impact of trauma and attachment difficulties on the learning brain, and strategies for calming yourself and reconnecting with your students when triggered by classroom stressors and negative interactions.

TBRI (Trust Based Relational Intervention (3 hours)

The focus of this training will be on using TBRI in the classroom to help at-risk students to decrease behavioral issues (i.e. physical and verbal aggression, disruptive behavior), increase attendance, and increase overall motivation at school. School staff will learn strategies grouped into three evidenced-based principles: (a) empowering, (b) connecting, and (c) correcting.

Integrating Restorative Discipline in the Classroom (3 hours)

Learn new strategies for managing classroom misbehavior that focus on repairing harm in relationships and helping students learn empathy, problem-solving, and other social emotional skills that help prevent future behavior issues.

Self Care and Stress Management for Staff & Students (2 hours)

This training will have information about the impact of stress on functioning for both staff and students. Learn coping techniques that both staff and students can use.


Helpful Ways to Interact with Parents: Parent Involvement (1.5 hours)

Strategies for approaching difficult conversations and encouraging positive relationships between staff and parents.

Book Study—Brainstorm: The Power and the Purpose of the Teenage Brain by Dan Siegel

This small group book study focuses on how the adolescent brain forms and the key developmental tasks that take place during this time. The book study will cover (a) myths of adolescence and what research really says is going on in their brains and bodies (b) ways to understand your students’ behavior (c) ways to integrate this new knowledge in to the classroom. (3) 1 hour book study meetings & 6 hours for reading = 9 training hours.

Book Study—The Whole Brain Child: 12 Revolutionary Strategies to Nurture Your Child’s Developing Mind by Dan Siegel

This small group book study focuses on understanding our students’ brains and ways to support their healthy growth. Participants will learn helpful ways to intervene when students are struggling in the classroom. (3) 1 hour book study meetings & 5 hours for reading = 8 training hours.

Book Study—Trauma Stewardship by Laura van Dernoot Lipsky

This small group book study focuses on care taking of our teachers and staff. Participants will learn strategies to take care of themselves and as a result be more effective with their students. (3) 1 hour book study meetings & 6 hours for reading = 9 training hours.
